Avianca Selects Rockwell Collins' Radar and Other Avionics Avianca Airlines is buying Rockwell Collins' MultiScan Hazard Detection System and other avionics to equip 38 new aircraft. Rockwell Collins says its WXR-2100 radar is unique because it "analyzes and determines actual weather hazards, not simply atmospheric moisture content." Its operation is "fully automatic," and it can provide "clutter-free" weather detection out to 320 nautical miles. Avianca will also get Rockwell Collins' HFS-900D HF datalink communications system with its CPL-920D coupler unit, and RDMI-743 radio distance magnetic indicator. Delivery is scheduled for early 2008. 08-24-2007. |
