Amsterdam Airlines to Start Flying with Lufthansa Systems' EFBs
The new Dutch carrier Amsterdam Airlines will start its flight operations with EFBs (electronic flight
bags) from Lufthansa Systems, meaning it will go "paperless" from its first revenue flight in mid 2008.
Jaap Horsten, the airline's managing director, said, "A paperless cockpit brings a lot of efficiency into
our flight operations. At the same time it reduces the workload, which means
additional safety. Therefore we have decided to start paperless from day one and
we have selected the most advanced solution available."
Amsterdam Airlines opted for the full EFB-suite of Lufthansa Systems'
Lido eFlightBag, which integrates a variety of applications for the
paperless planning and execution of flights, including modules for take-off
performance analysis and electronic navigation charts.
Lufthansa Systems says its EFB applications can be used with all EFB hardware from Class-1 notebooks to
integrated Class 3 onboard information systems.
The airline, which recently contracted for its first A320, will be based in Amsterdam and focus on flights
for third parties, both on the charter market and in luxury scheduled services.
