American Chooses IS&S to Modernize Its B-757 and 767 Cockpits Innovative Solutions & Support (IS&S) will modernize the cockpits of American Airlines' fleet of nearly 200 Boeing 757/767 aircraft with new flat-panel display systems. Deliveries will begin in the fourth quarter of this calendar year. The retrofit project will replace 22 individual cockpit instruments with four displays that American expects will not only significantly improve reliability, but will give these aircraft a versatile platform that can be easily modified to provide additional functionality, or to meet future regulatory requirements. Roman Ptakowski, the president of IS&S, said his company's B757/B767 Cockpit/IP (cockpit information portal) upgrade can be accomplished in less than four days, allowing it to process without the operator having to wait through heavy maintenance checks and extended aircraft downtime. 06-24-2007. |
