Airline and Defense Groups Agree to Further Harmonize Technical Data
Three major aerospace associations representing the defense and commercial industry in
Europe and the U.S. are collaborating to align their technical publication data
to make their supply chains more efficient.
The agreement will enable the AeroSpace and Defense Industries Association of Europe
(ASD), the Aerospace Industries Association of America (AIA) and the Air
Transport Association of America, to further harmonize their
S1000D specification for technical publications.
S1000D - which is based on international documentation standards such as SGML (standard
generalized markup language), XML (extensible markup language) and CGM (computer
graphics metafile) - defines a methodology that allows for publication
compilation, and standardizes data shared across different software platforms to
facilitate access to specific information. It also dynamically enables
continual revision and makes the incorporation of new technologies easier.
The main objective of this agreement is to promote a common and interoperable method of conveying technical
publication data internationally between OEMs (original equipment
manufacturers) and commercial and military users. 09-01-2007. |
