AirTran Airways Selects AeroData Performance and Weight & Balance System

AirTran Airways has chosen an online system from AeroData that calculates an aircraft's takeoff performance and weight and balance, and uses ACARS (aircraft communications and reporting system) to send and receive the necessary data.

According to AeroData, its online ACARS Performance and Weight & Balance System can be fully integrated with the airline's flight dispatching system, and uses customized datalink input and results screens to send and receive the necessary information that eliminates duplicate data entries by flight crews and dispatchers.

The aeronautical engineering software company says it can customize its applications for other devices too, such as PDA (personal digital assistants) and EFBs (electronic flight bags), to meet each customer's individual requirements, and serve "all budgets."

AeroData says its has provided aircraft performance data since 1992, and currently provides data for most Airbus and Boeing aircraft types, as well as most regional jets and turboprops.  Its customer base includes over 51 airlines on five continents, including Air Canada Jazz, Frontier, SkyWest and WestJet, along with AirTran.  10-08-2005.
