AirCell's New Transceiver Offers Two More Iridium Channels
AirCell says the FAA has certified a two-channel expansion of its Axxess transceiver that will allow its customer
to add two more channels of Iridium Satellite service and to double the
number of simultaneous functions available to passengers and flight crews.
Axxess already provides seamless and automatic call traffic management,
even without the additional channels, according to AirCell, which means a
user can simply pick up a handset and dial without selecting a channel.
AirCell says its new
Expansion Transceiver can be included as part of an initial AirCell
Axxess installation or added anytime thereafter. The straightforward
installation requires only the addition of a small box along with the
operator's choice of Iridium antenna options. Initial customer
installations already have been completed in the field.
The new unit meets the environmental testing
standards of RTCA/DO-160E. 02-06-2007. |
