AirAsia and AirAsia X Select Rockwell Collins' Avionics for A320s and A330s

AirAsia and its low-cost affiliate, AirAsia X, have selected a suite of Rockwell Collins' avionics for their new A320s and A330s.

This avionics package consists of Rockwell Collins' MultiScan hazard detection system, along with Collins' GLU-925 MMR (multi-mode receiver), HFS-900D high frequency radio system, CPL-920D coupling unit, VOR-900 VHF omnidirectional radio, DME-900 distance measuring equipment, and ADF-900 automatic direction finder.

MultiScan is unique in that it analyzes and determines actual weather hazards, not simply atmospheric moisture content.  The GLU-925 MMR provides the aircraft's primary position, velocity and time reference to enable precision landing capability based on ILS (instrument landing system) and satellite-based landing systems, as well as positioning for other future navigation functions.  02-25-2008.
