AirAsia Academy to Use Several Lufthansa Flight Training CBTs

Malaysia-based AirAsia is adding several Lufthansa Flight Training (LFT) computer-based training courses (CBTs) for operating in inclement weather and low visibility, handling dangerous goods, and RVSM (reduced vertical separation minima) procedures.

LFT's e-learning programs are said to be less expensive than traditional methods of theoretical pilot training, because they eliminate the need for in-person instructors, and make training times more flexible and ultimately shorter.

Captain Kenneth Chong, AirAsia's executive vice-president of planning and business development, claims, "The use of LFT's e-learning package has shortened our pilots' training time from two days to one."  10-23-2005.
