Air India's New B-777s and B-737NGs to Include Honeywell Avionics
Air India has selected Honeywell to provide a suite of avionics products for its new B-777s and B-737NGs including Honeywell's
next-generation weather radar for its 777s.
Both Air India's 777s and 737s will have Honeywell's
Quantum Line CNS (communications navigation surveillance) system,
high-frequency radio, TCAS (traffic collision avoidance system), solid-state
flight data recorder, solid-state cockpit voice recorder (SSCVR), flight data
acquisition and management system (FDAMS), and emergency locator transmitter. The 737s also will have Honeywell's
RDR-4B weather radar,
ACARS (aircraft communication addressing and reporting system), and the 777s
will get Honeywell's
RDR-4000 weather radar and
MCS 7000 satcom.
The RDR-4000 weather radar's 3-D scanning technology has
several new capabilities including its terrain-based digital ground clutter
extraction for removing ground returns without the losses and delays associated
with ground suppression filters, and automatic compensation for the earth's
curvature to present a truer weather picture out to 320 nautical miles.
Air India will receive 18 B-737NGs between 2006 and 2009, and 23
B-777 aircraft between 2007 and 2010. 08-06-2007. |
