Air France Launches OnAir's Phone Service on International Flights
Air France is offering OnAir's mobile phone service on one of its A318s flying European international
flights, claiming to be the first airline in the world to offer this service, albeit on a trial basis.
During a six-month trial, the airline's passengers initially will be able to use
the system with their
mobile phones to send and receive text messages and emails, followed later with voice phone calls as well, with some restrictions to
preserve other passenger's "comfort and well-being."
OnAir has roaming agreements with a number of mobile network operators,
including Orange, Bouygues and SFR, which are the three major ones in France.
