Air France Adopts Boeing's Airplane Health Management System
Air France has adopted
for Boeing's Airplane Health Management (AHM) system for its 42 B-777s and 21
B-747s.
AHM uses real-time airplane data to provide enhanced fault forwarding,
troubleshooting and historical fix information to reduce maintenance-caused
schedule interruptions and to increase maintenance efficiency.
In September, Air France
announced
its decision to put Boeing's class-3 EFBs (electronic flight bags) on
its entire fleet of 777s. Since a class-3 EFB is an integrated part of an
airplane's avionics system, it can serve as a direct communications gateway
for passing fault and other aircraft status information between the airplane
and an airline's operations and maintenance centers on the ground.
Air France was a
developmental partner for the original AHM release, and it is the first
Europe-based AHM customer. 12-16-2006.
