Adacel Will Provide NAV Portugal's Newest Oceanic CPDLC
Adacel says it will provide NAV Portugal with its Phase-4 CPDLC (controller-pilot datalink
communications) capability for the ANSP's (air navigation service provider's)
oceanic ATM (air traffic management) system.
The $2M (Canadian) contract calls for Adacel to upgrade the current Phase-3 system to
support additional FANS (future air navigation system) downlink and uplink
messages, and also enhance NAV Portugal's route processing, conflict detection,
meteorology models, human machine interfaces and radar functions.
The Montreal-based company, which completed delivery of CPDLC Phase-3 capabilities
in December 2006, says NAV Portugal's incremental implementation of CPDLC is in
line with the approach being taken by other ANSPs in the North Atlantic.
The NAV Portugal's ATM system uses Adacel's
Aurora oceanic ATM automation software to control international air traffic
in the Santa Maria FIR (flight information region). 09-18-2007. |
