Adacel Commencing Installation of New Tower Simulators for FAA
Adacel is commencing the process of supplying new ATC tower training simulators at
seven major FAA facilities, including the FAA Academy in Oklahoma City.
The
$48M contract for Adacel's
MaxSim 4.0 training devices is part of the first phase of the FAA's Tower
Simulation System program awarded to Adacel in December 2007. The contract also
includes program management, system support and other related services.
The first simulator deliveries are slated for Los Angeles, Atlanta, Dallas/Fort
Worth, Washington D.C.'s Ronald Reagan, Oakland, New York's Kennedy, and six
additional systems for the training academy.
According to Adacel, its new generation tower simulators have fewer hardware components, but increased
fidelity in its 3D airport and aircraft visual models. It also has an improved
speech recognition system, enhanced tools for preparing training scenarios, new
automated 3D Doppler sound effects, and significant functional enhancements,
particularly for ground operations. It also integrates ATC new systems such as
ASDE-X (airport surface detection equipment - model x), LLWAS (low-level
windshear alert system), TWDR (terminal weather Doppler radar) and STARS
(standard terminal automation replacement system) TDWs (tower display
workstations). 02-13-2008. |
