AVTECH Simulator Downlinks First Four Dimensional Data to Eurocontrol

AVTECH says it has downlinked 4DT (3D plus time) strategic and tactical data to Eurocontrol from a simulator.  The achievement should accelerate the progress of moving to a future ATM (air traffic management) system that relies on highly accurate aircraft trajectory information.

The Stockholm-based AVTECH AASES (airborne ATM (air traffic management) systems engineering simulator) was connected to Eurocontrol's Brussels-based AMAN-P (arrival manager with advanced trajectory prediction) system.

Martin Griffin, who manages Eurocontrol's air traffic control domain, said the connection will allow the air traffic service provided to "really push forward" with the development of air-ground collaboration.

Both Europe's SESAR the (Single European Sky ATM Research) and America's NGATS (Next Generation Air Transportation System) operational concepts use 4DT as baseline functionality.  01-20-2007.
