ATR Will Offer CMC's EFB as Standard Option on ATR-42s and 72s
ATR will offer CMC
Electronics' class-2 EFB (electronic flight bag) as a standard option for new
ATR-42 and ATR-72s in production as well as retrofits for those in service.
ATR's dual
CMC PilotView EFBs will allow pilots access to electronic aircraft
documentation, checklists and flight planning information, along with en-route
and approach charts, a moving map display and graphical, real-time weather
information that can be viewed on 8.4" AMLCDs (active matrix liquid crystal
displays). In addition to line-select keys and an integrated keyboard, PilotView
also provides a touch-sensitive screen which provides pilots with a choice when
accessing or navigating through EFB software applications.
CMC says PilotView's compact
display/processor and aircraft interface units are easy to install in a variety
of cockpits where space is at a premium. According to Cathy Bain, CMC
Electronics' vice president, marketing and sales, there are currently over 23 STCs (supplemental type certificates) available for the system on aircraft
ranging from the GV and Global Express to the B-737, and it's the sole EFB
option at Dassault, Gulfstream, Pilatus and Sino Swearingen. More recently, Embraer selected it for its E-170/190 program. 07-03-2007. |
