ARINC to Expand Satcom Broadband Coverage in Caribbean, South America
ARINC Direct will expand its in-flight satellite broadband communications service for
business jets in the Caribbean as well as Central and South America, during this
year's fourth quarter, along with SES AMERICOM, its SKYLink investor and strategic partner.
ARINC is conducting Beta testing on its SKYLink coverage of the North Atlantic tracks and
will be offering that service by the end of this year as well.
SKYLink service has been operational
over North America since 2005, and European service was added in September 2006. The space segment for the new Caribbean and South American coverage will be
provided by SES AMERICOM through a new ground station located in Miami.
Besides complete coverage of the Caribbean, SKYLink's expansion will include Guatemala, El
Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname,
Colombia, Ecuador, northern Bolivia, and northwestern Brazil. Most of Mexico
already falls under SKYLink's North America coverage. 10-09-2007. |
