ARINC Wants to Expand Market for Remote Check-Ins
ARINC has formed of a new
Remote Passenger Services Group to manage and market its Internet-enabled
remote passenger check-in technologies in the Americas in an effort to
expand their use.
ARINC's remote check-in
systems use the Internet to provide service at off-airport locations such as
hotel lobbies, convention centers and cruise ships. The company pioneered
the capability with its
iMUSE Express that is now widely deployed by airlines such as Air
Canada, Virgin Atlantic, and Singapore.
John A. Dungan will be
director of the unit and will be responsible for its strategy and product
focus. He also will coordinate with Orlando-based BAGS Inc., which provides
airline off-site baggage check-ins in dozens of U.S. cities in partnership
with ARINC.
BAGS uses ARINC's
Easy-Check system to handle thousands of airline passengers daily at major
convention centers in Boston, Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles, San
Diego, and Orlando, as well as 19 resort hotels at Disney World. ARINC also
provides a similar capability that is used on 30 luxury ships operated by
five of the world's largest cruise lines. 01-20-2007. |
