ARINC Reports Growing Interest in Iridium
ARINC says there's been what it calls "a recent sharp increase in the demand for
Iridium services by airlines worldwide, and a similar jump in the volume of its
monthly Iridium traffic."
According to ARINC, its list of Iridium customers grew nearly 40% from June to September
of 2007, while its Iridium data link message totals increased 26% and Iridium
telephony usage went up 46%.
Peter Grogan, ARINC's director of aviation solutions, said the company had anticipated
airlines and other aircraft operators would recognize the value of Iridium
because of its low avionics costs and global coverage. But the current level of
interest and growth in our customer base "has exceeded any initial
expectations," Grogan said.
In fact, Mr. Grogan says, ARINC's newest
GLOBALink/Iridium customers have migrated "from alternate service
providers," which he also attributes to his company's standards-compliant ACARS messages, and its
AviNet private network. 11-01-2007. |
